If you’re a new parent, you’re probably overwhelmed with all the decisions you need to make.
Newborn photography doesn’t have to be one of them.
Let me guide you through the process and provide you with all the information you need to capture the early moments of your baby’s life. I’m going to dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.
“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”
It’s important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. I’m dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I’ve completed mentorships and education specific to newborns. I understand the importance in capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful memories that you’ll cherish for years to come.
“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”
During a newborn photography session, I’ll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process. You can include your family members in the photos, and I encourage parents and siblings to participate in this special moment. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I’m always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.
To capture the best moments, it’s important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible; ideally within the first two weeks of your baby’s life. When booking with me, I’ll use your due date as a placeholder; once baby arrives, we’ll choose your actual session date.
I recommend feeding right before we start your session, but I know babies aren’t always on our schedule, so we can absolutely stop as needed during our time together. Finally, it’s also worth mentioning every baby is different. I never want to promise a certain pose, but I’ll pull out all the tips and tricks to ensure you have a diverse gallery.
“Do I need to bring anything?”
You don’t need to bring much- I’ll provide all of the adorable props and wraps! However, if there’s a personal item you want incorporated (think special blanket, outfit, or toy), make sure to pack that. You’ll also want to bring anything you need for feeding and diaper changes. I recommend a pacifier as well; even for breastfed babies, it’s a hand tool when transitioning into a new pose.
“When will I get my photos?”
After the session, you can expect a sneak sent the next day! I’ll send over a few images to your email address. The final edited gallery will be returned to you in about 2 weeks. Any printed products will be ordered after the digital gallery is delivered.
“How much does newborn photography cost?”
Newborn photography sessions in the Dothan, AL area range anywhere from $200-$1,000+. I know this may seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I’m dedicated to providing you high quality images (and by the way, my packages start at $295).
So there you have it! Newborn photography is a wonderful way to capture the early moments of your baby’s life and I do my best to take care of all the details, so all you have to do is show up!
