I knew right away that this newborn session with Katherine and Joevanni was going to be special. Their daughter, Myahli, came with the sweetest smile, and Baby Ezekiel was a tiny and cozy little nugget. It was such a joy to photograph this beautiful family, and I am so thankful they trusted me with these precious memories.
One of my favorite parts of their story is how Ezekiel got his name. The way Katherine shared it made me smile so big. She said, “The night we found out the gender both my husband and I had a dream where the same exact name came to both of us and we just knew it was meant to be!” How amazing is that? It truly feels like his name was chosen just for him.
When it came to Ezekiel’s birth, things didn’t start out the way they hoped. Katherine shared that “the circumstances that led to birth were not ideal,” but she also said that the actual labor and delivery were “everything I could ask for.” Baby boy arrived strong, healthy, and ready to meet his family. You could feel that joy in the room during the session.
This sweet family has so many fun memories already. They kept their pregnancy a secret for six months and surprised everyone with a gender-reveal cake. What a moment that must have been! Katherine also laughed as she told me she craved sour straws during pregnancy; something I’m sure many moms can relate to.
When I asked who Ezekiel looks like, Katherine didn’t even pause. She said, “I think he looks the most like our daughter.” And she’s right; there’s something so sweet and familiar in his little expressions.
Hearing Katherine talk about parenthood was truly heartwarming. She said, “There’s nothing like parenthood. The nights might be long and tiring, but man is it so rewarding!” One of her favorite parts has been watching Myahli step into her role as a big sister. The love between them is so clear and made for the sweetest photos.
She also shared that the biggest surprise this time around has been how much she had to relearn. “Just how different baby is compared to our daughter when she was an infant!” Every child really does bring their own little personality into the world.
I am so grateful to this wonderful family for letting me capture such a special chapter in their lives. Baby Ezekiel’s session was full of warmth, love, and quiet moments that I will never forget. I can’t wait to see them again as their family continues to grow.
